Medical Reserve Corps
The MRC is a network in the U.S. of community-based units initiated and established by local organizations aimed at meeting the public health needs of their communities. The MRC has contributed to vital public health initiatives, from vaccination clinics and emergency preparedness events to community health education. Through this partnership, we’ve had the opportunity to serve alongside dedicated volunteers and healthcare professionals, strengthening local healthcare capacity and helping ensure that critical services reach those who need them most.
On October 18, 2025, as part of Shelter Training Day, premedical fellows attended training for setting up emergency shelters as part of the MRC mission. As part of the Metro East MRC, fellows learned how to set up cots, welcome people into the shelter during emergency scenarios, de-escalate conflict between guests, and use portable translator devices.
