On October, 18, 2025, as part of Shelter Training Day, premedical fellows attended training for setting up emergency shelters as part of the MRC mission.
The MRC is a network in the U.S. of community-based units initiated and established by local organizations aimed at meeting the public health needs of their communities. As part of the Metro East MRC, fellows learned how to set up cots, welcome people into the shelter during emergency scenarios, de-escalate conflict between guests, and use portable translator devices.
